Ethereum Classic

Ethereum Classic is the original Ethereum blockchain, maintained after a hard fork in 2016. The split occurred due to a disagreement over reversing a major hack on The DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization. Ethereum Classic retains the original transaction history and continues with proof-of-work consensus, contrasting with Ethereum’s proof-of-stake transition. It focuses on immutability and code-is-law philosophy, ensuring transactions cannot be altered after they are recorded. While not as widely adopted as Ethereum, Ethereum Classic is supported by a dedicated community and remains a significant player in the blockchain ecosystem.
